Lance Corporal Nigel Moffett




Nigel Moffett was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday 30th May 2009. He and another soldier, Stephen Bolger of the Parachute Regiment died in an explosion whilst on a deliberate operation near Musa Qelah. Lance Cpl Moffett was born in Holywood, Belfast on 12th Dec 1980, the eldest son of 8 siblings, and joined the Light Dragoons in July 2003. He had served in Iraq in 2003 and in C Squadron in Iraq in 2005. He had also served in Afghanistan in 2006. He was an exceptionally fit soldier who was a Physical Training Instructor. He was brave and well respected by his fellow troopers and NCOs.
