Corporal Jack Stanley



Jack Leslie Stanley died as a result of an explosion in Afghanistan in 2012. He was in C (Coriano) Company of the Queen's Royal Hussars Battlegroup at Lashkar Gah in Helmand Province. He was on an operation in Pupalzay Kalay and was crossing a field on 3rd Feb 2012 when he fell victim to an explosion causing him to be badly injured. He was flown back to the UK and taken to Birmingham Hospital. He fought for his life but succumbed on 8th April 2012. He was born on 25th Feb 1986 in Bolton. He joined the army in 2003 and proved to be a humorous, popular figure as well as a good soldier. He was an excellent footballer, playing for the regimental team. He served in Iraq in 2006 and again in 2008, as well as his service in Afghanistan.
