| This style of pouchbelt and pouch was worn from 1856 onwards although the badge on the pouch was the VR cypher until c1890. Michael Mann's history of the regiment gives 1896 as the date for the introduction of the Bays badge but the old English typeface was used on shoulder scales in the 1830s so the badge could date much earlier than 1896. This example is in fact post 1901 as indicated by the King's crown. |
