Officers in India 1926

The Greys served in India, for the first time in their history, from 1922 until 1927. This photo of the officers in their pale khaki drill hot climate service dress was taken in Meerut where they were stationed from 1925. They were distinguished by the white hackle on the left side of their Wolseley helmets. There was also the bimetal regimental Eagle badge just below the hackle, and silver Eagle collar badges, all backed with black cloth. The CO sitting in the middle is probably Lieutenant-Colonel John Jeffrey Readman DSO.
