H R H Prince Arthur of Connaught


Prince Arthur was the son of the Duke of Connaught who was the third son of Queen Victoria. He was born on 13 Jan 1883 and commissioned into the 7th Hussars on 8 May 1901. He transferred to the Scots Greys as a Captain on 27 April 1907 and was promoted to major on 19 Oct 1913. He was appointed Colonel-in-Chief on 8 Nov 1921. He was also Colonel-in-Chief of the Kaffarian Rifles in 1931. His son, the Earl of MacDuff was an officer in the Scots Greys from 1935 but died in 1943. Prince Arthur died on 12 Sep 1938.
