Officer's Waistbelt Plate 1902

This style of waistbelt plate was worn by officers of the Scots Greys from c1855 when the tunic replaced the coatee. The King's crown at the top of the star of the Order of the Thistle identifies it as post 1901 when Edward VII came to the throne. The star badge is surrounded by a representation of the knight's collar worn by holders of this title. The waistbelt itself can be seen in this photo, showing the regimental pattern gold lace on red Morocco leather. The tunic also features, with the blue edge and the regimental gilt buttons.
