Red Trumpet Banner c1892

This lithograph is undated and it's accuracy is in doubt. It has the trumpeter sounding a call with a red trumpet banner. The Royal Arms of Scotland are embroidered on it but it does not have the decorative edging of the later blue banner. There is another coloured print showing the red banner, both of which are in Godfrey Brennen's collection. The bearskin has the long curved plume which was re-introduced at this time. His shoulders show a gold or yellow shoulder strap and he has a crossed trumpet badge on his arm. He wears no gloves. The cords and tassels do not have the red, yellow and blue colours, and the bugle cord is across his chest whereas other prints show it hanging on the right side, from the right shoulder. He has a pouchbelt with a white pouch on the back although the 1890 trumpeter has no pouchbelt.
