Musicians 1937

This photo was taken by Godfrey Brennan at Aldershot on 11 June 1937. The musicians are, from left to right, Band Sergeant Goffe of the Greys, Trumpet Major M Kelly of the 1st Royal Dragoons, and Trumpet-Major M Leonard of the Greys. Sergeant Goffe has three stripes and a sergeant's regimental Eagle badge on his right sleeve. Trumpet-Major Leonard has four inverted stripes and an Eagle badge, but no crossed trumpet badge as expected. The aiguillettes and cord decoration on his tunic are yellow like the rank and file, no longer gold as seen in the 1920 photo. He has one medal for long service and good conduct which has a maroon ribbon edged white. Goffe has medals for WW1. Trumpet-Major Kelly of the Royals does not appear to have rank badges on his sleeve. It is interesting to compare the different methods of wearing musicians' aiguillettes between the Greys and the Royals.
