Camel Detachment

Norie's painting of a Scots Grey trooper in the Heavy Camel Regiment gives a good idea of how they may have looked. Most sources claim that the mounted troops wore grey tunics. The artist was not in the Sudan and would have had to rely in information gathered from the men of the regiment. It is possible that not all regiments had access to the grey tunics and had to resort to their hot climate scarlet frocks.
