Captain Charles Hill Uniacke


Born 21 Sep 1827, the eldest son of Richard John Uniacke, Judge of the Supreme Court in Nova Scotia. He was educated at Clifton. His mother was Marianne daughter of the Hon Charles Hill of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was commissioned into the 10th Hussars and served with them in the Crimea. He transferred to the 6th DG for the Indian Mutiny. Captain Uniacke exchanged to Greys on 17 June 1859. He was a major in the Army on 5 July 1872 and in the regiment on 24 May 1877. He died unmarried on 30 Jan 1878.
