Blue Drum Banner

When the squadron guidons were taken out of service in 1858 the embroidered pieces were used to make up a pair of drum banners. The date of this right-hand banner is not known but the shape indicates that it is more 1890s than 1880s. It features in Major Anderson's article on the Scots Greys band in 'Tradition' published c1970. He says that this banner was still in use by the band in 1970, presumably as a spare, but contemporary to the red ones. There are no photos of it in use and it is difficult to imagine how it would be used. When the band paraded in undress the kettle-drums were used without banners.
