H M Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen was Colonel-in-Chief of the Scots Greys from the date of her accession on 6 Feb 1952. When the regiment amalgamated with the 3rd/6th Carabiniers in 1971 she continued as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, although this role was taken over more directly in 1995 by the Duke of Kent who is nominally the Deputy Colonel-in-Chief. The photo shows her in the uniform of the Grenadier Guards on her grey called Doctor which she rode from 1963 to 1969.
