King's Guidon 1766


This crimson guidon, richly embroidered, conforms to the 1751 regulations described above. It was owned by Lieutenant-General David Home of Wedderburn who served in the Scots Greys from 1754 to 1794 and commanded it from 1779 to 1794. This and the accompanying Second (Regimental) guidon were presented to the regiment in 1766 and replaced by new ones in 1783. The two guidons were sold at auction at Christies on 11 June 1992 with an estimated price of 4,000 to 6,000 pounds.
