Guidon on Parade 1897


The Royal Scots Greys parade on the occasion of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897. This painting by Harry Payne shows how the guidon was central to the formation. It is carried by a Squadron Sergeant-Major. The front rank of each squadron of the Greys carry lances, and the regimental band play in the background on the right.
