Lieutenant John Wilson


John Wilson rose through the ranks of the Scots Grey to Troop Sergeant-Major. He was commissioned and given the rank of cornet on 29 May 1866. He was promoted to lieutenant and appointed Adjutant of the Greys on 19 Jan 1870. He was promoted to Captain on 23 Oct 1875, and a year later exchanged to the 90th Cameronians on 26 Aug 1876. The photo of him wearing a Greys stable jacket was taken in 1871.
