Greys' Sherman Tank

This Sherman tank of the Scots Greys was photographed having just landed at Salerno on 9 Sep 1943. The Sherman M4 tank imported from America was used by the Greys for the rest of the war. The gun in the turret was 75mm calibre the same size as the Grant, but the armour was thicker. It had a 5-man crew, and two .30 Browning machine-guns mounted in turret and hull. On top of the turret was a .50 Browning intended as an anti-aircraft weapon.
