Captain's Mess Jacket 1902

The scarlet mess jacket is post-1902 because of the 3 rank stars on the shoulder. Before that year the rank of captain was indicated by two stars. In May 1902 the second-lieutenants were allowed one star, a lieutenant two, and a captain three. The jacket dates before that however because the cuff braid was simplified in 1902. At this time the waistcoat was blue with a half-inch gold lace down the front edges.
