Officer's Field Cap Badge 1900

This is the badge that the regiment is best known for. The other ranks had worn this pattern for some years up to the end of the 19th century but it was not until the 1900 Dress Regulations that the officers were ordered to have this silver badge on their field service caps. The battle honour JELLALABAD and mural crown was awarded to the 13th Light Infantry on 20 Aug 1842 for their heroic defence of that town in Afghanistan against overwhelming odds.
