Band 1926

The band with drummers were photographed in Egypt in 1926. The most remarkable thing about this photo is that the Somerset Light Infantry had a Corps of Drums at his time. The buglers are now drummers as well as buglers. The bugle cords are, at this stage more like the present day plaited cords with tassels at the shoulder. Unfortunately the bugle-major (as he was then titled) has been cropped so that we cannot see his short mace. The band members at the back do not have the cords and tassels but have a white shoulder belt. No swords are carried.
