Robert Blackall Montgomery


Robert Blackall Montgomery joined the 13th Light Infantry in 1847 as a captain. He served in the Crimea and when the second battalion was raised he transferred to that. On 13 July 1873 he was appointed to command the 1st Battalion and remained in the post until 1878. He was promoted to the command of the 13th Regimental District at Taunton, and died in 1884. The photo is from a 2nd Battalion group taken in 1872 when he held the rank of major.
