| Atkinson was in Captain G V Wardell's H Company on the right of the line at Isandhlwana. He joined the 1st Battalion 24th on 28th Feb 1875 and served in the 9th Cape Frontier War of 1877-78. He was 23 when he died in the battle on 22nd Jan 1879. |
