Officer's Waistbelt Clasp 1855-1881

When the uniform changed in 1855 to the tunic, the sword was slung from the waistbelt and this clasp was in use from around then up until the change of title in 1881 to South Wales borderers. The design incorporated gilt with silver wording, crown and number. The belt fastened by slotting the central piece into the inscribed circle. It was worn on the full dress gold belt and the white leather undress belt, as seen in the photo of Colonel Degacher.
