Belt-plate c1800

At first sight this plain item would seem to be a belt-plate for other ranks but it is silver and was worn by officers of the 31st from the late 1790s to the end of the Napoleonic wars. The plate worn by other ranks was brass. This silver officer's plate matched their lace and buttons which remained silver until 1830.
