Officer's Shako Badge c1835

In the period 1829 to 1844 when the bell-topped shako was worn by infantry, the 31st wore a large gilt and silver badge on the front. There are three known types, of which this is one. The other two have the battle honours on a silver oval border edged with a rope pattern. One has the wreath topped with a silver crown and the other has the wreath on a silver Regency star within the border.
