Glengarry Badge, Other Ranks c1870

This is one of two brass badges shown here, worn on the undress glengarry cap by other ranks of the 31st. The glengarry was first worn by the Scottish regiments but was adopted by the English infantry regiments in 1868 and worn up to 1890. It would seem that this is the earlier version of the badge, having an unusual type of Queen's Crown and a laurel wreath around the 31.
