Crimea Colours


This illustration is of the tattered remains of the 42nd Colours that were carried from 1839, through the Crimean War and Indian Mutiny. The nine Napoleonic battle honours have PENINSULA missing from the side nearest the pike, in both cases. Comparing this with the photo of the actual flags in Dunkeld Cathedral reveals that the Queen's Colour is less damaged than shown.
