Other Ranks' Shako Plate 1800


This brass badge was worn on the first pattern shako worn by the King's Own. Most other regiments wore a universal pattern with the King's cypher in the middle of the garter and the crowned lion beneath, but the 4th had the lion in the middle and the cypher below. The lion's paw is not raised. There is also a scroll around the cypher inscribed KING'S OWN INFANTRY. It is made of brass and measured 6.25 inches high and 4 inches wide.
