General Sir Charles Wills KB


Charles Wills was born in October 1666 and died on Christmas Day 1741. He commanded the army at the Battle of Preston in Nov 1715 and defeated the Jacobites. He was on the Privy Council and was MP for Totnes from 1718 to 1741. He was Colonel of the Buffs from 5 Jan 1716 to 25 Aug 1726, and Colonel of the Grenadier Guards from 26 Aug 1726 to 25 Dec 1741. He was buried in Westminster Abbey on 2nd Jan 1742.
