Officer's Button


The gilt regimental button worn on officer's uniforms of the Dorsets bore the title THE DORSETSHIRE REGT. around the top. The word GIBRALTAR in a scroll above the castle and key. Between the castle and the Sphinx is PRIMUS IN INDUS and MARABOUT below the Sphinx. This button was worn around the end of the 19th century and beyond. Other Ranks had the universal brass button for the infantry which had the royal coat of arms.
