Regimental Colour, 2nd Battalion c1925

The green Colour was restored after 1904 when the regiment was allowed to revert to the old green facings which had been worn by both the 39th and the 54th Foot. After World War 1 the regiment were awarded 11 battle honours to be emblazoned on their drums and Colours, plus 46 more Accredited Battle Honours. The Colour shown here has 16 honours arranged around the central Union wreath, plus the two honours of GIBRALTAR and MARABOUT still placed in the lower corners in the form of a castle and a Sphinx. After 1919 all line regiments were permitted to display 10 Honours from the Great War on their King's Colour.
