Gordon Highlanders with their Anti-Tank guns. The whole of the 8th Battalion was converted into a Royal Artillery regiment in Burma but sub-units also were subject to a similar change of role. This photo was taken in Holland, Oct 1944, of a platoon of the 1st Gordons that was equipped as artillery. Integral anti-tank weapons were highly necessary for infantry battalions in most theatres of war. |
