General Sir J N R Moore GCVO KCB CBE DSO


James Newton Rodney Moore was born in 1905 and educated at Harrow. After Sandhurst he was commissioned into the Grenadier Guards in 1925. In WW2 he was a staff officer in the Guards Armoured Division and in 1944 was appointed CO of the 2nd Armoured Battalion in the 5th Guards Armoured Brigade, XXX Corps. The photo is of Major-General Moore in 1957, published in the Household Brigade Magazine.
