| Born in 1865 at Mount Oswald in County Durham. He commanded the Royal West African Frontier Force from 1909 to 1913 with the title of Inspector General. He was Colonel of the Northumberland Fusiliers from 1915 to 1935. During the 1920s he was appointed Chief Commissioner of St John's Ambulance. He died in 1953. |
