The Warwickshire Regiment

2nd Battalion Colours 1935

The Colours presented to the 2nd Battalion on 10th May 1935 conformed to the regulations. They were 3'9" wide by 3' deep, with fringes around the edge and the royal crest on top of the pike.

The Regimental Colour, on the right, was on a blue ground following the colour of the Royal facings. The central device was the antelope surrounded by the Garter inscribed HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE and outside that the title THE ROYAL WARWICKSHIRE REGIMENT. The union wreath surrounded that, and the battle honours arranged 7 on each side with one beneath. The King's crown was above the title. In each corner was the slipped rose and the top canton had the numeral II for 2nd Battalion.

The King's Colour was the union flag with the numeral II in the middle surrounded by the regiment's title and surmounted by the crown. The 10 emblazoned battle honours allowed for the King's Colour were placed 5 on each side. After the Second World War a further 10 more honours were permitted.
