The Warwickshire Regiment

Sudan

The men of the 1st Battalion in the uniform worn in the Sudan c1898. This photo must have been taken after their return home as they appear to be wearing the medal ribbons for that campaign. Most of them have the Queen's Sudan medal and the Khedive's Sudan medal, but the sergeant has only one ribbon. The bugler sitting next to him is dress similarly to the other except for the absence of ammunition pouches on the front of his waistbelt.
