Bengal Infantry 1814

The year 1796 saw a re-organisation of all the regiments in the three Presidencies. In Bengal, At that date there were 3 European regiments and 12 Native regiments of 2 battalions each. By 1814, as this schematic diagram shows, there was one European regiment with one battalion, while there were 27 Native regiments of two battalions each. Unlike the Madras and Bombay regiments, the uniforms all had yellow facings in this year. By 1819 the facings were of different colours for each regiment.
