The Yeomanry

Cap Badge 1898

The oak leaf badge was adopted in 1898 and can be seen on the forage cap of Colonel Cole who was CO from 1914 to 1915. The bronze version here was worn on the khaki caps, and smaller versions worn on the service dress collars. It was at first worn on the collars of the officers' and mens' serge frocks as a silver badge. NCOs also wore it above their stripes in dress and undress, and the service dress cap also had this badge. It was also adopted for the plain black undress sabretache. The modern day South Notts Yeomanry, in their role as 307 Battery RHA (100th Yeomanry RA V) wore them in anodised aluminium both on caps and collars.
