The Yeomanry

Officer's Jacket Front View

The note-books of P W Reynolds are stored In the V&A museum and provide a valuable source of information on uniform. This page is a study of the officer's jacket that was photographed in the previous image. The braid is silver and the close-up view shows how it was sewn onto the scarlet jacket. Although this jacket with many lines of braid across the front is hussar in style it was worn by light dragoon regiments, both in the regular army as well as the volunteers. The buttons look plain but are in fact inscribed NOTTS Y.C. As can be seen on the next page.
