The Yeomanry

Stable Cap 1898

All ranks were issued with the red and blue stable cap in 1898, the officers version had gold cord piping along the top edges. The silver oak leaf and acorn badge was introduced at the same time. It was usually worn with the serge frock. This undress cap was replaced by the Field Service Cap in the early part of the 20th century which had a small turned-up peak at the front and two gilt buttons. It was similarly coloured except that the crown of the cap was scarlet instead of blue.
