The Yeomanry

Private c1822

P W Reynolds made this drawing from a coloured sketch in the possession of Lord Cambridge in 1934. From this we can see that the light dragoon helmet was replaced by a shako at some point. The buttons on the French grey uniform are linked across the chest by lines which are in pencil only on the original and may not mean that there was braiding connecting the buttons. The pouch-belt is white and there is no sign of the pouch. The sword belts and sabretache slings are brown leather. The grey trousers have a broad green stripe down the side.
