The Yeomanry

Officers c1887

The officers of the Warwickshire Yeomanry pose in various orders of dress, mostly patrol jackets which are dark blue with wide loops of black mohair braid across the chest. The Colonel, Charles Paulet, is standing in the middle, wearing a patrol jacket with a medal. A youthful Francis Greville sits second from the right. He was Lord Brooke until 1893 when he inherited the title 5th Earl of Warwick, and became Colonel Commandant in 1905. One officer is in review order and four others wear stable dress. The stable jacket they wear is the early pattern which was replaced by the 1896 version with more ornate cuffs. The pill-box forage caps are dark blue with silver lace cap-bands and a silver purl button on top. There is no braid figuring around the top button as one would expect.
