The Yeomanry

Band 1858

The earliest mention of a band in the Warwickshire Yeomanry is in H A Adderley's history of the regiment. The band was present at a dinner in 1844 given by Captain Bolton King of the 2nd Troop in celebtration of the 50th anniversary of the raising of the first four Troops. The image we see here is a detail from a print in the Illustrated Times of July 1858. The men wear the new uniform that was adopted in 1857, consisting of a blue tunic and trousers, and a straight sided shako. The plumes on the shakos look white, although it would have been expected that a red plume would have been worn.
