The Yeomanry

Trumpeter 1901

This picture of a trumpeter in review order was published in the Navy and Army Illustrated in July 1901. His uniform does not differ from that worn by the rest of the Warwickshire Yeomanry. There is reason to believe that the trumpeters at an earlier stage had a red bag and plume on their busby, and red or yellow caplines. He has a trumpet for making calls when dismounted, and a bugle for mounted calls. The cords and tassels are green. According to Barlow and Smith who wrote the booklet on the uniforms of the Warwickshire Yeomanry, the earliest photo of the regimental band was taken in 1901 and published in the Navy and Army Illustrated in June of that year. The uniforms in that photo are described as having two types of busby, some with white bags and plumes and others with red bags and plumes.
