Hugh de Grey Seymour, 6th Marquess of Hertford CB TD JP


Hugh de Grey Seymour was born on 22 October 1843 in Dublin. He was the son of Sir Francis George Hugh Seymour, 5th Marquess of Hertford and Lady Emily Murray. He gained the rank of Captain in the Grenadier Guards. He married Hon Mary Hood, daughter of General Alexander Hood on 16 April 1868 at Windsor. He died on 23 March 1912 at age 68 at Ragley Hall, Arrow, Warwickshire.

The Seymour family is descended from Edward Seymour 1st Duke of Somerset (4th Creation). In 1884 Hugh inherited 5 titles on 25th Jan: 6th Earl of Yarmouth, 6th Earl of Hertford, 6th Marquess of Hertford, 6th Viscount Beauchamp and 7th Baron Conway of Ragley.

1900 Colonel Commandant of Warwickshire Yeomanry until 4th Nov 1905

1905 Honorary Colonel of Warwickshire Yeomanry
1905 Invested CB
1910 ADC to King George V
1912 Died on 23rd March at Ragley Hall.
