The Yeomanry

Knavesmire c1875

Norie painted this scene of the Yorkshire Hussars parading or preparing for manoeuvres. They are in undress, with pill-box caps and plain black sabretaches and pouches. The officers are on the right and centre with a trumpeter on the extreme right. Sergeants confer on the left and the remainder of the regiment are dismounted in the background. The trumpeter is wearing a blue pill-box cap and has a saddle-bag to keep his trumpet and bugle.
