Francis D Farquhar DSO


Francis Farquhar was an officer in the Coldstream Guards serving as Military Secretary to the Duke of Connaught, Governor General of Canada. He was a co-founder of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry with Andrew Gault, and carried out the planning and organisation. He was the first commanding officer of the regiment and took them to England for training, then to France for active service. The regiment were fighting near St Eloi from January to March 1915 where Lieutenant-Colonel Farquhar died of wounds on 30 Mar 1915.
