United Nations Memorial Cemetery, Pusan

This is the only United Nations Cemetery in the World. It is divided into international sections based on the nationality of the soldiers who fought during the 1950 to 53 war. In fact, one of the reasons the war lasted as long as it did was due to wranglings and disagreements over the repatriation of war dead and prisoners of war. After the first 12 months of fighting, the war became very static but the status of casualties was used as an excuse to prolong the war.
