Other Ranks’ Shako Badge 1839-55

The universal design was worn by the line infantry regiments on their bell-topped shakos, then in 1844 the same badge was worn on the Albert shako. It was made of brass, the 3in diameter roundel being ribbed and surrounded by oak leaves on one side and laurels on the other.
