Yorkshire Brigade Cap Badge 1958-69

This cap badge was worn by Other Ranks in the Green Howards from 1958 to 1969, with a similar but better quality badge for officers. The Yorkshire Brigade was an administrative formation that lasted from 1948 to 1968. It included all the Yorkshire Regiments as well as the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers and the York and Lancaster Regiment, a total of six regiments. This as reduced to four in 1958. In 1958 all the regiments in the brigade had to relinquish their regimental badges and wear the Yorkshire Brigade badge. On 1 July 1968 the brigade was united with the Lancastrian and North Irish Brigades to form The King’s Division.
