| These drummers of the Green Howards were photographed at the Verne Citadel, Portland on 20 Sep 1935, Alma Day. Most of the drummers are carrying drums which were captured in the Crimean War. They are decorated with roses for the occasion. The man on the left of the picture has a sheet music pouch on his belt and does not have a drum carriage. He is a fifer or bugler. |
